Darren Flaxstone and Christian Martin whip up a frothy, fun bit of how’s-yer-father in "Buffering", English comedy of men and manners.

When Sebastian’s (Alex Anthony) hours are cut back and Aaron (Conner Mckenzy) loses his job, these two sweet young men face the prospect of imminent homelessness unless they can cook up a way to make a lot of money in a short time.

Sex sells, and given that these are two young, hot, gay guys with a video camera, you can guess how they decide to make a few pounds. The real fun starts when their sometime-roommate Jem (Jessica Matthews) shows up -- she’s a gal who feel like a guy who likes other guys. Got that? No? Take Aaron’s advice and just accept that she’s a gay man in a woman’s body.

Jem shows the guys how to take things to the next level, and introduces hot new twists for their Internet sex shows. Her ultimate idea? Audition some sexy young studs for a role as the third member of a three-way. (Hey, how about that cute, athletic guy, Mitch (Oliver Park), who lives next door?)

The sexcapades come with a dose of domestic drama. Seb feels that things are getting out of hand, and fears that his happy life with Aaron is slipping away. Bringing Mitch on board doesn’t help matters any.

But along with the qualms there’s a fairy godmother in the form of a shopkeeper (Bernie Hodges), a somewhat older man, who runs the local sex shop. He dispenses toys, lube, and pearls of wisdom.

This is not the sort of movie you take seriously, which means you’re free to have fun with it. The acting is just good enough, and the script (by Flaxstone and Martin) has some clever stuff mixed into its predictable premise and formulaic structure. If you’ve had it with heavy dramas and "comedies" that just don’t fly, give "Buffering" a try. Its effortless charm is brisk and invigorating.
